Widow Of Iraqi Killed By US Troops In Video ‘Accepts Apology’ After Letter -- Times Online
The widow of an Iraqi killed in a notorious US helicopter attack yesterday accepted an apology from two of the soldiers involved. The two wrote an open letter after footage of the 2007 incident was leaked on the internet.
Ahlam Abdelhussein Tuman, 33, told The Times that she forgave Ethan McCord and Josh Stieber, who wrote “we acknowledge our part in the deaths and injuries of your loved ones”, because Mr McCord had also rescued her children: Duaa, 7, and Sajad, 13.

My Comment: The after effects of most wars take years (if not more) for reconciliation and some form of forgiveness to take hold. For some .... peace and reconciliation can never be enough .... that the bitterness of losing love ones will last a lifetime and that any chance for "healing" will always be discarded and replaced with eternal hate and a need for revenge.
The Iraq war will not be an exception to this rule .... but with time I do believe that peace and reconciliation will come to Iraq. My hope is that Iraq's deep sectarian divisions do not explode, and that in the end the Iraqis do not only come to some form of reconciliation with the U.S., but also with themselves.
