China Ends Confusion On Varyag Aircraft Carrier’s Arresting Gear


The spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, Yang Yujun has said that Chinese (Ex-Varyag) aircraft carrier is undergoing different tests and People's Liberation Army Navy ( PLA Navy) was able to attain the objectives set for the previous sea trials of the aircraft carrier.

M777 155mm Ultralightweight Towed Field Howitzer

The M777 is an  ultralightweight 155 mm towed field howitzer was developed by the BAE Systems' Global Combat Systems division to replace the existing inventory of M198 155mm towed howitzers in the United States Marine Corps and United States Army. 
The M777 155mm Ultralightweight Towed Field Howitzer has been purchased by the Canadian and Australian Armies while Indian Army also plans to purchase around 145 M777.
The M777 155mm Ultralightweight Towed Field Howitzer is 42 percent lighter than the M198 155mm towed howitzers.

Iranian Velayat-90 Naval Exercise: Stage One


The fast attack boat of the Iranian Navy firing rockets during the first stage of the Iranian Velayat-90  naval exercise. Iranian naval exercise involved Iranian warships, submarines, helicopters, fast attack missile and rocket boats.
The Iranian Velayat-90  naval exercise covered the wide area from Strait of Hormuz to the Gulf of Aden. Iran also claimed that it has successfully test fired electrically propelled torpedoes for the first time.

The Deputy Commander of the Iranian Navy, Admiral Mahmoud Moussavi has said "The Iranian navy will test several kinds of its missiles, including its long-range missiles, in the Persian Gulf on Saturday."

Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed that they were able to force the US RQ-170 Sentinel Stealth Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to land on an Iranian airbase after it violated the Iranian airspace while US maintains that its drone lost the link with the ground control station and crash landed in Iran.

UAE Orders Ballistic Missile Defence System Worth $3.49 Billion

The United States has signed a contract worth over $3.49 billion with the United Arab Emirate for the sale of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD). The THAAD missile interceptor is designed to destroy the incoming ballistic missiles at ranges of 200km and at altitudes up to 150km.

Iranian Fateh Class Diesel-Electric Submarine

Iranian Navy has inducted new 600-ton domestically produced Fateh (Conqueror) diesel-electric submarine which is far more capable then the Ghadir class submarines.

The Fateh class submarine has a displacement of 527-ton when surfaced and 600-ton when submerged. This submarine has a operational diving depth is 200 meters while its maximum diving depth is 250 meters. The Fateh submarine has range of over 5000 kilometers when snorting at slow speed.

Closing Strait of Hormuz Will Be Easier Than Drinking A Glass of Water: Iranian Naval Chief

Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari has warned that Tehran could close the strategic Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of the Persian Gulf to the world oil tanker traffic.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said, 
"Closing the Strait of Hormuz for Iran's armed forces is really easy ... or, as Iranians say, it will be easier than drinking a glass of water, but right now, we don't need to shut it as we have the Sea of Oman under control, and we can control the transit."
Pentagon was quick to respond and its spokesperson, George Little, has said that United State will not tolerate any disruption with the passage of oil vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi had also made similar statements and said that will close the Persian Gulf if additional sanctions are imposed on the Iran.
The Lt. Rebecca Rebarich, spokesperson of the Fifth Fleet of the United States Navy has warned that any interference "will not be tolerated." The United States Navy (USN) is "always ready to counter malevolent actions to ensure freedom of navigation."
Iranian navy employs fast attack missile craft and fighter jets armed with short and long range anti-ship missiles and unguided rockets. Iranian navy also operate three Russian Kilo class diesel-electric attack submarines which can carry upto 18 torpedoes or anti-ship missiles of Russian origin.

Iranian navy has also received eleven 120-ton Ghadir class mini-submarines which are designed to operate in the shallow waters of the Persian Gulf. The Ghadir class submarines can carry torpedoes to attack the enemy ships. These submarine can also be used to lay sea mines. 

Earlier this year, Iranian Navy has received much more capable Fateh class diesel electric submarine which  can carry upto 12 torpedoes or 24 naval mines.

Irish Peace Keepers in South Lebanon on Christmas Day

Irish peace keeps are part of the United Nation Interim Force in Lebanon which is responsible for monitoring the cessation of hostilities, assist the the Lebanese Armed Forces and conduct extensive mobile patrolling.
The Irish Area of Operations is around 140 square kilometer, it extends from Tibnin in Southern Lebanon to the Blue line along the border with Israel..

Iranian Short Range Nasr-1 Anti-ship Cruise Missile

Iranian Navy's C 14 class missile boat test firing light weight, short range Nasr-1 anti-ship cruise missile.
Both radar seeker and imaging infrared seeker are available to provide terminal guidance to the Nasr-1 anti-ship cruise missile.
The 3.28m long, Nasr-1 light weight anti-ship missile is the Iranian version of the Chinese C-704 ­anti-ship missile which has a maximum range of 35 kilometers. The estimated launch weight of the Nasr-1 missile is 350 kilograms and they are fitted with a 130 kg  warhead.
