Russian President: Last Chance To Avoid Long-Lasting And Bloody Civil War In Syria -- The Telegraph

Dmitry Medvedev voiced strong support for UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan's mission to end a year of violence in Syria, saying it could be the last chance to avert an even bloodier civil war.

At a meeting at a Moscow airport before Kofi Annan flew off to China, President Medvedev said that Mr Annan's mission "might be the last chance for Syria to avoid a long-lasting and bloody civil war."

He added: "Therefore we will provide you any help needed on any level and in various directions to the extent that Russia is capable."

Mr Annan thanked Mr Medvedev for his and the Russia's support and agreed with the Russian president's assertion that the time for Syria to act is now.

It's too late .... Syria is already in a state of civil war.
