Despite death of Osama bin Laden, drone attacks continue to pound North Waziristan.

Security analysts say the North Waziristan region of Pakistan serves a key route for militants moving back and forth across the Pakistan/Afghanistan border, and an area that serves as the base for the Haqqani Network, a group of insurgents closely aligned with the Taliban, according to an article by GlobalPost.

Officials say the network members provide a safe haven for al-Qaida and is believed to be one of the greatest threats to U.S.-led NATO forces operating in neighboring Afghanistan, GlobalPost reports.
