Turkish F-4 Phantom II Fighter Jet Crashes, killing 2

The F-4 Phantom II fighter jet of the Turkish Air Force has crashed near Konya in central Turkey at around 11 a.m.. The F-4 fighter jet belong to the 3rd Air Wing of the 1st Air Force Command of the Turkish Air Force. Both fighter pilots were killed in the crash.

The F-4E fighter jet became oerational with the Turkish Air Force in 1974 and some 54 of them were upgraded to F-4E 2020 Terminator standered with help of IAI. The Turkish air force used their F-4 Phantom IIs for the exercise with the Chinese Air Force's (PLAAF) Su-27 fighter jets and media reports indicated that Turkish F-4s were very successful against the Chinese Su-27s.
