Death Toll From Syria's Civil War (A Timeline)

The city of Homs, known as the capital of the revolution, was one of the first to join the uprisings against the Syrian government. With more than 8,000 killed, the city and its suburbs have been hit hard by the government's brutal crackdown. Further south, Rif Dimashq overtook Homs in late 2012 as the province with the most deaths. Total deaths, by governorates, March 2011 through Nov. 24, 2012
