Islamic Protests Sweep Pakistan And Its Neighbours In Asia -- The Telegraph

Protestors took to the streets of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Indonesia on Thursday as demonstrations gathered pace over a low-budget anti-Islamic video and cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed published by a French magazine.

Pakistan was forced to deploy soldiers to the streets of the capital Islamabad to protect diplomats as demonstrations turned violent.

Earlier police fired tear gas and live rounds to keep several thousand stone-throwing protesters away from the city's diplomatic enclave.

They used lorry containers to close off roads to the Red Zone, where foreign embassies and government offices are located.
