The new head of the Armed Forces has cast doubt on the future of Britain’s multi-billion-pound defence industry.

General Sir David Richards said the Ministry of Defence should not ‘prop up ailing industries’ with lucrative orders for overpriced tanks and helicopters.

Britain’s most senior military figure, appointed to his new role last week, said the Government should instead buy equipment from cheaper foreign suppliers.

My Comment: I have to see it to believe it .... but if true .... does this mean that the U.K. military will now buy from 'over-priced' American firms?
