Yushchenko Pledges To Force Russian Navy Out Of Crimea -- RIA Novosti

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko pledged on Monday in an election campaign statement to force Russia's Black Sea Fleet to leave Ukraine's Crimea by 2017.

"The Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation must be pulled out of Ukraine before 2017 in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine and the agreements signed," Yushchenko said in a statement published on the website of the country's Central Election Commission.

My Comment: The polls indicate that the governing party in the Ukraine will lose in the next election. Therefore .... the issue of Russian ships using ports in the Crimea is now being used as an election ploy to stir anti-Russian sentiment.

Will it work .... I doubt it. Economic and unemployment problems are the main issues in this election, and it is on these issues that a pro-Russian party will probably be elected in the next election.
