Mexico's Ominous Drug Wars
From Real Clear World:
Two weeks ago the U.S. Joint Forces Command published its "Joint Operating Environment (JOE 2008)" report, which projects global threats and potential next wars. The report stated that Mexico and Pakistan are two countries that "bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse,"
"The Mexican possibility may seem less likely, but the government, its politicians, police and judicial infrastructure are all under sustained assault and press by criminal gangs and drug cartels. How that internal conflict turns out over the next several years will have a major impact on the stability of the Mexican state. Any descent by Mexico into chaos would demand an American response based on the serious implications for homeland security alone."

My Comment: When one looks at reports that bridge links between Mexico and the U.S. are now being sabotaged, mass murders in Mexican cities are now occurring on a regular basis, coupled with political and law enforcement corruption .... one rapidly comes to the conclusion that Mexico is becoming a failed state.
The inevitable outcome can now easily be predicted .... the Mexican Federal Government will need to hit the cartels harder than what it is doing now, and it will have to start putting suspected criminals into the penal system. On the U.S. side, strict enforcement of people entering the U.S. will now need to be enforced. Everyone entering will now need to be scrutinized.
