Admiral Recommends Keeping U.S. Commandos In Iraq

Adm. McRaven Advises Keeping Some U.S. Commandos in Iraq -- Wall Street Journal

The U.S. is still waiting for an invitation from Iraq before making a decision on whether to keep troops there past the end of this year. But Vice Adm. William McRaven, President Barack Obama’s nominee to lead Special Operations Command, said there is a need for a small contingent of U.S. commandos to remain in the country.

“Clearly there is still a threat in Iraq and a small SOF presence there would be advisable,” Adm. McRaven said at his confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday.

Military officials remain wary of Iranian backed militias that operate in Iraq.

My Comment:
My prediction is that Adm. McRaven will get his wish in keeping some U.S. troops in Iraq.
