Pakistani Military Quashes Taliban Attack On Naval Base -- Washington Post

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistani commandos regained control Monday of a naval air base in the southern metropolis of Karachi, more than 16 hours after an attack by armed fighters that the Pakistani Taliban claimed was an attempt to avenge Osama bin Laden’s death.

Interior Minister Rahman Malik said 10 Pakistani security personnel were killed and 14 were injured in the overnight siege, which shook the port city with at least a dozen explosions and destroyed two U.S.-supplied airplanes.
