Pentagon Rumors

Gossip and RUMINT At The Pentagon -- Wall Street Journal

Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, retires in late September, and the Pentagon rumor mill is spinning over the administration’s choice for a successor.

For months, Marine Gen. James “Hoss” Cartwright, Adm. Mullen’s deputy, was seen as a top contender for the job: He was closely involved in the efforts to kill or capture top al Qaeda operatives, and had won respect within the White House.

My Comment: Information Dissemination believes the following was the final list submitted to the White House on who gets what when positions are announced.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff = General Dempsey
Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff = General Schwartz
Chief of Naval Operations = Admiral Greenert
Army Chief of Staff = General Odierno

If this is true .... I am not impressed with this selection .... but I guess that this is the best that we presently have.
