South Sudan Vows To Respect Ruling On Oil District Dispute

KHARTOUM (AFP) – South Sudan's ruling party vowed on Wednesday to respect an imminent court decision on a dispute over the boundaries of the contested oil district of Abyei.
The ruling, which is expected next week, is seen as a major challenge to a fragile 2005 peace deal that ended decades of civil war between the Muslim north and mainly Christian or animist south in which 1.5 million people died.
However, the former rebel Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) said it would accept as binding a ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague.

My Comment: One side calls for reconciliation and the respect of law, another side talks about war. This is all going to change if more oil is found in this part of Sudan .... a prediction that is easy to make in view of South Sudan's long history of war and conflict.
