The E-2C Hawkeye 2000 airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft is capable of taking off and landing from an aircraft carrier. Its AN/APS-145 radar can track over 2,000 targets at upto ranges of 550km and control the interception of 40 hostile targets.
France has also requested the United States for an upgrade of of the four E-2C Hawkeye 2000 AEW&C with Mode 5/S Identification Friend or Foe (IFF).
French Naval Aviation (Aeronavale) operates three E-2C Hawkeyes airborne early warning (AEW) aircrafts which makes it the only operator of the E-2 Hawkeye from an aircraft carrier besides the United States Navy. Hawkeyes 2000 can stay in air for over 4 hours while they are up to 200 miles from the aircraft carrier.
French Naval Aviation (Aeronavale) operates its E-2C Hawkeye 2000 airborne early warning (AEW) aircrafts from the French aircraft carrier, Charles De Gaulle. All the French E-2C Hawkeye have been upgraded with Hamilton Sundstrand NP2000 digitally controlled, 8 blade propellers as part of the NP2000 program.
