Is Britain Becoming A Safe Haven For War Criminals?

Sudanese War Criminal Wins Right To Remain In Britain -- The Telegraph

An unnamed man who was paid to slaughter civilians in Darfur will remain in the UK indefinitely because a British judge has ruled his life would be in danger if he returned to Sudan.

An immigration tribunal found the 27-year-old was guilty of crimes against humanity after interviews given to the BBC and The Times described his looting of 30 villages and the shooting of "countless" victims.

The man was a member of the feared Janjaweed militia, which killed as many as 300,000 people in Sudan and displaced up to two-and-a-half million others.

Immigration officials said that he was exempt from refugee status under the Geneva Convention, which allows the refusal of asylum for war criminals, but a judge overruled them, arguing the man's life would be at risk if he was deported and that his human rights to life and protection against torture would be infringed if he went home.

My Comment: I must confess that Britain's version of 'human rights' and 'justice' disgusts me .... but I must respect the sad fact that this is the system that they have now embraced.

It's Expensive To Deport A Radical 'Preacher' Someone in Britain

Abu Qatada appealed against deportation from the UK to Jordan at the European Court of Human Rights.

Cost Of Keeping Abu Qatada In Britain 'Tops £3m' -- The Telegraph

The cost of keeping radical preacher Abu Qatada in Britain has risen to more than £3 million, it has been claimed.

The figure has built up over more than the decade since he was first arrested and is expected to continue to rise despite attempts by the Home Office to deport him.

The bill includes £825,000 in government legal bills since 2002 and a matching sum for Qatada’s legal aid and court costs.

The country has spent a further £850,000 to keep him in a maximum security prison and £500,000 on police surveillance, according to the figures revealed by the Daily Mail.

My Comment: Unbelievable. If there ever was a case where someone has to be deported .... this is it.

Another Example That Illustrates The Failure Of Britain's Anti-Terror Laws

Terror Suspects Win Case Against U.K. -- Wall Street Journal/AP

LONDON--Two terror suspects won the right Monday to seek compensation from the British government over the restrictions imposed upon their activities since 2006.

The High Court ruling delivers another blow to Britain's system of so-called "control orders," which officials say is necessary to keep tabs on terror suspects who can't be brought to trial without revealing sensitive intelligence information.

Al-Qaeda 'Terrorists' Win Right To Hear Secret Evidence

Abu Qatada Photo: REUTERS

From The Telegraph:

Two men, alleged to be al-Qaeda terrorists, have won the right to hear the secret evidence against them or be released.

Both men are in prison but if the government refuses to release the information they would be freed on bail with minimal restrictions.

One of the men, who can only be referred to as “U”, is allegedly an associate of Osama bin Laden who was once a senior al-Qaeda instructor and one of the world’s most wanted terrorists.

My Comment: As much as I complain about the U.S. legal system when it comes to throwing terrorists into jail .... the U.S. legal system pales when compared to the insanity of the U.K. system and the ruling Labor party that helped put this travesty together. The above story is just one more example of this nuttiness.

Another Example Of the British Justice System Protecting Terrorists

'Bomb Mastermind' Still Free -- The Telegraph

A militant jihadist accused of playing a pivotal role in the liquid bomb plot to blow up transatlantic airliners is walking free on the streets of Britain.

Security sources have expressed concern about the activities of the man, whom authorities are convinced helped to plan attacks on planes as they flew between Britain and North America.

Home-grown terrorists – three of whom were convicted last week – had planned to kill thousands of people in the air and possibly more on the ground in a wave of attacks that would have been as devastating as the 9/11 attacks on America.

My Comment: Britain can easily solve this problem by rewriting the law. But when you have a government that releases a man who was convicted of murdering 280 people ..... sigh .... you know nothing is going to be done.
