Happy Birthday Kim Jong-un (Maybe)

The Missing Brothers Of Kim Jong-un -- Sydney Morning Herald

Kim Jong-un is portrayed in North Korea's official state media as a leader without comparison, blessed with a supreme bloodline, flanked by a supportive wife and endowed with the "brilliant" ability to revamp the economy, command an army and guide the space program.

But one thing is notably absent from these descriptions: any mention of his two brothers, both of whom were once rumoured to be heirs to the family-run empire.

As Kim prepares for his nationally celebrated birthday on Tuesday, thought to be his 30th, his brothers are far away from the state-sanctioned spotlight, one living in secrecy in North Korea, the other apparently moving between China and Singapore.

Kim Jong-Un Is A Dictator Says His Teenage Nephew -- The Telegraph

Kim Jong-Il's teenage grandson has labelled his uncle, North Korea's new leader Kim Jong-Un, a "dictator" in an interview that offers a rare glimpse into the world's most secretive ruling dynasty.

During the interview, conducted at the school in Bosnia where he studies, Kim Han-Sol, 17, spoke of his desire to "make things better" for the Korean people.

Sporting wide, black-frame glasses, two studs in his left ear and a fashionable haircut, Kim also talked of his close friendships with South Korean and US students and his hopes for the Korean peninsula's reunification.

Kim Jong-un Uses First Public Speech To Call For Push To 'Final Victory' -- The Guardian

North Korean leader breaks father's habit of silence by speaking in public at military parade.

North Korea's new leader has delivered his first public speech as the impoverished state celebrates the centenary of its founder's birth.

Kim Jong-un, the third Kim to rule North Korea, called for a push to "final victory" at a military parade in Pyongyang. He read monotonously from a script in the capital's central square after goose-stepping soldiers and sailors showcased the country's military power in the spring sunlight.

Kim Jong-un 'Masterminded Attacks on S.Korea' -- Chosun Ilbo

A North Korean document supports the conclusion that North Korea attacked the Navy corvette Cheonan and Yeonpyeong Island last year to whip up domestic support for the succession of leader Kim Jong-il's son, Jong-un.

The document, which the Chosun Ilbo obtained from a source in China on Tuesday, claims that Kim junior was deeply involved in both attacks. Titled "Lecture Materials," the document was apparently drawn up for military propaganda officers early this year.

My Comment: If this is what you must do to insure your succession to the top job in the country .... this reveals a complete lack of confidence in your ability to do handle the responsibilities that such a position will ultimately demand of you.

Life Is Good For North Korea`s Future Ruler

North Korea's Heir-Apparent Launches Luxury Villa Construction Spree -- The Telegraph

A starving North Korea is reportedly spending more than £100 million on new offices and villas for Kim Jong-un, the country's heir-apparent.

The construction spree, documented in satellite photographs and informant accounts assembled by South Korea's intelligence services, began as Kim Jong-un was named to succeed his ailing father, Kim Jong-il, last month.

No independent corroboration of the photographs was possible, but two North Korea experts told The Daily Telegraph that the material was credible. North Korea's ruling family has long been known to live in considerable luxury, unlike the vast majority of the population it rules over.
