The United States Navy's (USN) new Virginia class nuclear attack submarine, USS North Carolina (SSN-777) arrives in Japan Yokosuka Naval Base.
The 7,800 tons, USS North Carolina (SSN-777) was launched on 5 May 2007 and was commissioned by the United States Navy's (USN) on 3 May 2008.
USS North Carolina (SSN-777) has 12 vertical missile launch tubes for launching BGM-109 submarine launched Tomahawk land attack cruise missiles and 4 × 533mm torpedo tubes for launching Mk-48 mod 6 heavyweight torpedoes.
