Life Is A Beach
The US Marine Corps is trying to stop a growing number of nudists from using a beach which serves as one of its main amphibious assault training grounds.
Gold Beach sits in the grounds of Camp Pendleton in California, the Marines' major base on America's west coast, where generations of recruits have learned how to storm their way ashore.
It is also just south of a popular nudist spot, known as Trail 6, which has been at the centre of a legal battle over the right to sunbathe naked. In 2009 a court ruled that the state of California could ban nudity there.
Nudists have subsequently begun moving south and are now encroaching on the Marines' beach in an attempt to escape California park rangers wielding penalty notices and ordering them to cover up.
