Ottawa Releases List Of 30 Most Wanted War-Crimes Suspects -- Globe And Mail

The Conservative government has released a U.S.-style list of Canada’s 30 most-wanted suspected war criminals, part of a flurry of recent political announcements targeting immigration cheats.

The foreigners are now deemed priority targets to kick out of Canada because they “violated human or international rights” in their homelands, according to the list posted online Thursday. The cases, some of which date back 20 years or more, mostly appear to involve failed refugee claimants who went underground after their bids for asylum failed.

After Ratko Mladic Arrest, Attention Turns To Goran Hadzic, Serbia's Last Remaining War Criminal -- The Telegraph

With the arrest of Ratko Mladic, Serbia is now under pressure to capture one last remaining alleged war criminal – Goran Hadzic.

Hadzic, 52, is accused of the "extermination or murder" of hundreds of Croat civilians and the forcible deportation of around 28,000 Croats and other non-Serbs in Croatia during the 1991-1995 war there.

He faces 14 counts of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the imprisonment of civilians in detention centres where they were subjected to torture, beatings and murder.

My Comment: He has not been seen or heard from since 1994. For all that we know .... he may be dead.

Charles Taylor, the former Liberian president, could have as much as $400 million hidden away out of reach of prosecutors, according to leaked US diplomatic cables.

US officials were told that if Mr Taylor is found guilty of war crimes, the international court in The Hague might only be able to recover a fraction of his wealth.

On Friday judges in The Hague adjourned indefinitely the three-year-old trial of Mr Taylor on charges of arming rebels who killed and maimed Sierra Leone citizens.

My Comment: If they cannot find this war criminal in the heart of Europe, what chance do we have of capturing someone like Osama Bin Laden in the inhospitable and hostile regions along the Afghan/Pakistan border.
