A powerful web of Islamic radicals and terror convicts sits behind the two men believed to have executed Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich, it emerged today.

Michael Adebolajo, 28, and Michael Adebowale, 22, are both apparently linked to a wider network of men who are known to have either planned atrocities, preached violence or joined groups considered so extreme they are now banned.

These apparent connections have come to light since the British Muslims were arrested on suspicion of hacking Drummer Rigby to death in broad daylight after he was run down with a car last Wednesday.

David Cameron is demanding to know “what went wrong” with the security services’ monitoring of the two suspected Islamist terrorists who allegedly slaughtered a soldier outside Woolwich barracks, a Cabinet minister has said.

Eric Pickles, the Communities Secretary, said there will now be a “thorough investigation” after it was disclosed that the two men arrested over the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby, 25, had been known to MI5 for eight years but were dismissed as peripheral threats.

Michael Adebolajo, 28, the man videoed by witnesses with his hands red with blood following the killing of the soldier, had been intercepted by officials as he attempted to travel to Somalia to fight alongside Islamist terrorist group Al-Shabaab.

The Telegraph has learnt that six years ago Adebolajo was arrested after being involved in violent protests by extremists outside the Old Bailey.

My Comment: I can easily answer this question. Open borders. A failure (and unwillingness) of many immigrants to integrate into British society. Radical preachers permitted to stay in the country and preach hate. Security budgets being cut and MI5 being overwhelmed with possible radical suspects (because of open borders and immigrants not assimilating into British society but brainwashed by radical preachers who are not deported). Bottom line .... the blame belongs in parliament .... and for the voters who support these politicians who have no problem in supporting these policies. And here is an easy prediction .... a few weeks from now this story will be forgotten .... if not sooner.

Kenya Arrested British Solider Murder Suspect in 2010 -- Voice of America

Kenyan officials say a suspect in last week's savage murder of a British soldier in London was arrested in 2010 near the East African country's border with Somalia.

Michael Adebolajo and five others were detained and questioned by Kenyan authorities in the port city of Mombasa over links to the al-Qaida-linked Somali militant group al-Shabab.

Adebolajo was believed to have been preparing to train and fight with al-Shabab, but was released after two days due to lack of evidence.

Kenya's government spokesman said he was arrested under the fake name he was using at the time - Michael Olemendis Ndemolajo - and handed to British authorities.

Meanwhile, it was claimed yesterday that Woolwich suspect Michael Adebowale became radicalised after trying to escape gangland ‘trouble’.

My Comment: This video footage is incredible. It looks like the reason why these two murderers did not flee the scene was that they were waiting for law enforcement to show-up and to inflict even more casualties. The murdered soldier who was executed close to a military barracks by two Islamist fanatics was today named as Lee Rigby.

Police were this afternoon guarding the 25-year-old serviceman's home in Middleton, Greater Manchester, who was described as a 'loving father' to his son Jack, two.

Drummer Lee Rigby was just starting his Army career and had recently fought in Afghanistan with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

But as he walked towards the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, south-east London yesterday afternoon, he was run down by a car on the pavement and hacked to death.

Six Islamic extremists who plotted a bloody bomb attack on a far-right rally only failed because the gathering finished early - even though they were under surveillance, a court heard.

The group admitted planning a murderous attack at the English Defence League (EDL) event in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, when they appeared before a judge today.

Five members of the gang travelled to the rally with an arsenal of weapons - including a nail bomb which contained 458 pieces of shrapnel, a partially assembled pipe bomb, two shotguns, swords and knives.

Police and MI5 are foiling a plot as big as the July 7 attacks every year, the country's second most senior terror officer has revealed.

Officers also fear a hybrid of terrorist and criminal gangs could bring a new threat on the UK.

Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Osborne warned that the country is facing the most complex terror threat in its history.

Three terror suspects planned to attach knives to a car then drive into a heavily crowded area as part of an terrorist plot that could have wreaked more devastation than the July 7 attacks, a court has heard.

Irfan Naseer, 31, Irfan Khalid and Ashik Ali, both 27, are accused of masterminding a plot to detonate eight suicide bombs after one of the extremists claimed 7/7 attackers should have used nail bombs to inflict more damage.

The trio, said to be 'central figures' in a home-grown terror cell, posed as bogus charity collectors to raise money for training in terrorism in Pakistan, where they learned how to use weapons and make improvised explosive devices, it is alleged.

Police May Be Arresting Marginal Terror Suspects To Clear Decks For Olympics Says Watchdog -- The Telegraph

Police may be targeting “marginal” terror suspects in a bid to “clear the decks” ahead of the Olympics, the terrorism watchdog said on Sunday.

David Anderson QC, the independent reviewer of terror legislation, said this summer’s Games are a “major target” and police may be intervening in cases earlier than they would normally.

His comments follow a series of arrests by counter-terrorism officers in recent weeks.

Last month two Muslim converts were arrested on suspicion of plotting an attack against the Olympic canoeing venue. They were later released without charge.

A suspected terrorist who MI5 believe is a would-be suicide bomber was found repeatedly near the Olympic Games venue.

The alleged al-Qaeda militant was caught crossing through the Olympic Park five times, breaking a ban imposed by the Home Secretary, The Sunday Telegraph has learned.

The 24 year-old has previously tried to get to Afghanistan, allegedly for terrorist training, and is suspected of fighting for the Somali Islamist group al Shabaab, which has been responsible for thousands of deaths, including those of Western aid workers. He is accused of trying to recruit other Britons to its cause.

My Comment: If he wants to go back to his home country of Somalia to pursue jihad .... I say deport him and deliver him to the Somali authorities who are fighting extremists like this one. I suspect that they know exactly what needs to be done.
