WASHINGTON — When al Qaida suicide bombers tried on Feb. 24, 2006, to blow up Saudi Arabia's Abqaiq oil processing facility, arguably the world's most important petroleum hub, it was taken as a sign of strength that internal security had foiled the attack.

My Comment: These worries are justified, more so when terror groups like Al Qaeda have publicly stated that oil facilities are legitimate targets in their battle against the Saudi government.

It remains a potent issue: Terrorism has damaged the Islamic world far more than the West, and too many Muslims have been cowed and silent. But a powerful and so far largely unreported denunciation of terrorism emerged last month from Saudi Arabia's top religious leadership, known as the Council of Senior Ulema.

My Comment: Saudi Arabia is laying the groundwork that gives them the moral and legal authority to arrest and combat those who support and participate in Jihad and Islamic related terror actions. Kudos to the website Biyokulule who was the first to publicize and explain (in English) this new policy in April, and no surprise .... it is now official policy.
