Pakistan’s Intelligence Agency Was Involved In Planning Of The Mumbai Terror Plot, Conspirator Claims -- The Daily Mail

An American who has admitted scouting targets for the Mumbai terror attacks said yesterday that the plot was hatched with at least one Pakistani intelligence official and a navy frogman.

At a trial for a Chicago businessman accused of providing a front for his surveillance work in India, David Headley testified to getting help and guidance from two officers in Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence directorate, the ISI.

CHICAGO — A confessed Pakistani American terrorist took the stand in a Chicago courtroom Monday and described a close alliance between Pakistan’s intelligence service and the Lashkar-i-Taiba terrorist group, alleging that Pakistani officers recruited him and played a central role in planning the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

David Coleman Headley’s long-awaited testimony at the start of a trial with international repercussions resolved one question at the outset: Federal prosecutors did not hesitate to connect Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate (ISI) to the attacks that killed 166 people, including six Americans.

Breakthrough Likely In ISI-CIA Talks -- DAWN

ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) are close to a reset in their knotty relations, with behind-the-scene negotiations reportedly making progress.

A breakthrough is likely in days ahead.

An end to the feud will not only help resolve the dispute over immunity for jailed CIA operative Raymond Davis but also help both countries overcome the hard patch in their ties.

“There are some positive developments in ongoing negotiations,” a security official told Dawn on Monday without specifying how much ground the two sides had covered.

He, however, said both sides were ‘grudgingly accommodating each other’ to save the overall bilateral relationship.

My Comment: It is the Pakistanis who are pushing this idea that some accommodation will be reached with U.S. intelligence services. Personally .... I am skeptical that such an 'accommodation' can be sustainable. Pakistan's support of terror organizations that are at war with India makes U.S. officials uneasy .... even more so when their own agents are arrested and put in jail.
