Osama Bin Laden was not shot dead by Navy SEALs but instead blew himself up with a suicide belt, the terror leader's former bodyguard has claimed.

In a claim that counters previous reports, Nabeel Naeem Abdul Fattah said that the al-Qaeda chief triggered his explosive belt when U.S. Special Forces broke into his compound, killed two of his guards and shot him in the thigh as part of 'Operation Geronimo'.

Speaking in an interview, Abdul Fattah conceded he had not been present at the time of Bin Laden's death but instead was told 'what had happened' from one of the terror leader's relatives.

Court Rules Bin Laden Death Photos Can Stay Secret -- Reuters

(Reuters) - A federal appeals court ruled on Tuesday that the U.S. government had properly classified top secret more than 50 images of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden taken after his death, and that the government did not need to release them.

The unanimous ruling by three judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected a request for the images by a conservative nonprofit watchdog group.

Judicial Watch sued for photographs and video from the May 2011 raid in which U.S. special forces killed bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan, after more than a decade of searching.

The organization's lawsuit relied on the Freedom of Information Act, a 1966 law that guarantees public access to some government documents.

Pakistani Doctor Who Helped Get Bin Laden Was Denied Asylum In U.S., Report Reveals -- FOX News

The jailed doctor who helped the U.S. track down Usama bin Laden was convicted by a tribal court on bogus charges, according to a classified Pakistani government report.

Portions of the voluminous 357-page Abbottobad Commission Report, which has yet to be made public and were obtained exclusively by Fox News, acknowledge Dr. Shakil Afridi’s conviction last year by a government-sponsored Jirga has undermined Pakistan’s credibility. The report calls for Afridi to be given a new trial.

The report also claims Afridi joined the CIA search for Bin Laden five years ago, while he was staying in the U.S. with a cousin. According to the report, Afridi applied for asylum after a terrorist group, Lashkar-e-Islam, stepped up its operations in Pakistan's lawless tribal belt.

My Comment: I am lost for words on this case. This is a man who deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom. But after all the promises from the White House and other senior government officials that they will help the man who helped the CIA to find Bin laden .... the truth is now known .... he was abandoned by those in Washington who were always saying publicly that they will help him. And today .... this hero .... is rotting in a Pakistani prison.

Denied access to his family and legal team, Dr Afridi is now on hunger strike - he stopped eating days after an April 25 court date.

A third member of the U.S. special forces unit that raided Osama bin Laden's Pakistan compound has come forward to tell his story - with yet another version of how the Al Qaeda chief met his end.

The previous account, given by a Navy SEAL only identified as The Shooter in Esquire magazine, claimed he had confronted Bin Laden in the terror chief's bedroom and shot him twice in the forehead when he saw him reach for a gun.

But now a third member of Navy SEAL Team 6 who says he came face to face with Bin Laden in the Islamist figurehead's final moments has spoken out to say details of Esquire's scoop are 'complete B-S'.

(CNN) -- In February, Esquire magazine published a lengthy profile of "The Man Who Killed Osama bin Laden." The story did not identify the killer by his real name, referring to him only as "the Shooter."

The Shooter told Esquire that the night bin Laden was killed he had encountered al Qaeda's leader face-to-face in the top-floor bedroom of the compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, where bin Laden had been hiding for more than five years.

The Shooter explained that when he found bin Laden in his bedroom the al Qaeda leader was standing up and had a gun "within reach" and it was only then that the Shooter fired the two shots into bin Laden's forehead that killed him. That account was in conflict with the account from another raid participant in a wildly successful book "No Easy Day."

My Comment: I am still waiting for the pictures .... as for the real official account on what happened that night, I am resigned to the possibility that we will only know in 20 or 30 years.

Additional images of Osama bin Laden taken shortly after his death in a daring Navy SEAL raid have been found by the CIA - but all of the photos will remain unseen by the public.

The discovery was announced on Friday in a letter from the Justice Department.

The new pictures would add to about 52 grusesome shots of the terror leader's body after he was killed in May 2011 by members of SEAL Team Six as they raided his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

A second Navy SEAL who reportedly fired the shots that killed Osama bin Laden is challenging an earlier version of events that said the al Qaeda leader was killed by a commando outside bin Laden’s room.

The new account of the May 2, 2011, raid by a member of the ultra-secret SEAL Team Six was disclosed Monday in a report by the Center for Investigative Reporting and Esquire magazine.

The commando, identified in the account only as “Shooter,” described in detail how he and another SEAL entered a room on the third floor of the compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. There they saw a tall man believed to be bin Laden standing in the dark using his wife as a shield.

“I’m just looking at him from right here [he moves his hand out from his face about 10 inches],” the SEAL says in the magazine story.

My Comment: This is the closest that any present day U.S. official will admit that water-boarding (i.e. torture) did assist the intelligence community to track down Bin Laden.

Even though a lot of information has been released since the death of Osama bin Laden .... a part of me senses that the real good stuff is still classified, and will remain classified for the next few decades.

Pakistan Doctor In Bin Laden Case Starts Hunger Strike -- Reuters

(Reuters) - The Pakistani doctor who helped the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) hunt down Osama bin Laden started a hunger strike in his jail cell this week to protest against his living conditions, prison officials said on Thursday.

Shakil Afridi was sentenced in May to 33 years in jail for his links to a banned militant group. The decision was widely seen as punishment for helping the CIA find the al Qaeda leader, and has led to strained ties between Washington and Islamabad.

Prison officials in the northwestern city of Peshawar said they are keeping Afridi in solitary confinement and will not allow him to have visitors nor speak to anyone by telephone as punishment for a media interview he gave in September.

My Comment: Faced with spending the next 33 years in jail because of his assistance to the CIA in finding Bin Laden .... and all but ignored by the U.S. .... this is the only way it appears that he can get attention to his case. Unfortunately .... with the exception of a few international news outlets .... his case is being ignored in the U.S.

Details surrounding one of the more controversial details of Osama bin Laden's 2011 takedown are starting to emerge thanks to an Information Request by the Associated Press.

Following the Abbottabad raid on May 1 of last year, bin Laden's body was whisked away to the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson in a helicopter crammed with Navy SEALs.

In his book about the raid, Matt Bissonnette says the helicopter that delivered bin Laden to the Vinson was so packed with troops and gear that he sat on bin Laden's corpse for the entire ride.

More than a year after Pakistan said it would find out who was responsible for failing to catch Osama bin Laden on its own soil, a formal investigation has only produced rumors.

A year and a half after the Pakistani government said they would find out exactly what happened and who was responsible for failing to catch the most wanted man in the world – Osama bin Laden – hiding in plain sight in Pakistan, the only thing that has come from a formal investigation are rumors.

It generally takes Pakistan years to release findings from special commissions. At the most, reports may get leaked to press, but that also often takes months. Though many were hoping the report results would bring to task the powerful military establishment often accused by the West of supporting extremists and their affiliates, in light of reported leaks that the commission will exonerate Pakistani authorities, analysts believe that the whole exercise may have been futile.

LOS ANGELES — Thanks to the magic of editing, President Obama will have a starring role in a television drama about one of his biggest accomplishments — the killing of Osama bin Laden — that will be shown just two nights before the presidential election.

But the star turn is virtually certain to bolster claims that the approximately 90-minute film amounts to a political stunt. Set for a prime-time debut on Nov. 4 on the National Geographic Channel, and a release the next day on Netflix, the film — “SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden” — is being backed by Harvey Weinstein, a longtime Democratic contributor and one of the Obama campaign’s most vigorous backers. Mr. Weinstein bought the rights to the film for about $2.5 million at the Cannes festival in May.

My Comment: This film .... if the above trailer is any indication .... looks like a winner. As to editing the film to bolster President Obama's role in the operation .... please .... it will have zero impact in swinging any undecided voter come election time two days later.
