Payback? Istanbul Assassination Victims Linked to Moscow Bombing -- ABC News

Two of the three suspected Chechen militants gunned down in what appeared to be a professional assassination in Istanbul last week shared a link to one of the deadliest terror attacks in Russian history.

Rustam Altemirov, who Turkish police said was shot by an assailant with a silenced pistol on the street in broad daylight Friday along with two other men, was charged in absentia in June for his alleged role in the suicide bombing of Moscow's Domodedovo airport in February, according to Russia's state news organization. The bombing killed 37 people and injured over 100 more.

Chechen Rebel Recruits for 'Total War' With Russia -- FOX News

The Chechen rebel who claimed responsibility for the bombing of an airport in Moscow in January released a new video, in which he appealed for recruits for a total war against Russia, according to a post on hunafa.com, a militant website.

Chechen-born Islamist rebel Doku Umarov earned the moniker of the Russian Usama Bin Laden after he claimed responsibility for the Moscow metro attack that left 40 dead in March 2010.

Chechen Militant Leader Claims Responsibility For Moscow Airport Bombing

A website affiliated with Chechen rebels has released a video in which an insurgent leader claims responsibility for last month's deadly suicide bombing at Russia's largest airport.

Doku Umarov also threatens more bloodshed if Russia does not leave the region.

The Kavkaz Centre website said it received the video late yesterday. It was not clear when or where the video was recorded.

The January 24 attack at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport killed 36 people.

Chechen Rebel Leader Promises More Terror Attacks on Russia -- Voice of America

Chechen rebel leader Doku Umarov is vowing to carry out more terrorist attacks on Russia, and says Moscow faces "a year of blood and tears" if it does not relinquish control of the largely-Muslim North Caucasus.

Umarov leveled his latest threats in an undated Internet video aired Sunday on a Chechen rebel website (kavkazcenter.com). Dressed in military fatigues, the bearded Umarov also said a "brother" was being dispatched to Moscow to carry out an unspecified "special operation." He said "other blows will follow." Moscow has not commented on the video, which shows Umarov flanked by an unidentified male.

Chechen Rebel Leader Threatens A Year Of "Blood And Tears" In Russia

Chechen Rebel Threatens Russia With More Attacks -- Yahoo News/Reuters

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Chechen rebel leader Doku Umarov has said his forces will carry out more attacks and that Russia faces a year of "blood and tears" if it refuses to abandon its North Caucasus territories.

In an Internet video posted on the Islamist website www.kavkazcenter.com, the bearded Umarov, dressed in a cap and military fatigues, said "a brother" was being sent to Moscow to carry out an unspecified special operation.

This appeared to be the young man standing at his left.
