FBI Informant Comes Out Of Witness Protection To Warn The U.S. To Not Release The 'Blind Shiek'

FBI Informant Warns So-Called Blind Sheik 'Will Kill Americans' -- NBC

An FBI informant who has helped catch some of the world's most dangerous terrorists is coming out of witness protection to warn that a terrorist sheik in prison remains a significant threat to the U.S.

Emad Salem is urging the U.S. to keep the ailing 74-year-old sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, often known as the Blind Sheik, behind bars and to not transfer him, even as governments overseas continue to press for his release.

"He will kill Americans," said Salem. "He will kill anyone who disputes what he says with a fatwa."

Salem, a one-time Egyptian military officer, had warned officials about the looming 1993 World Trade Center bombing, but his warnings were ignored after a lie-detector test was inconclusive and he said he would never testify at any trial.

Update #2: FBI Informant Concerned Over Jailed Blind Sheik -- Long Island

My Comment: There are many who are pushing hard to release the blind sheik .... including Egyptian President Morsi who vowed on his first day in office that he would do everything in his power to free the "Blind Sheik'. Bottom line .... the Blind Sheik is a convicted mass murderer whose only regret is that he was not successful in killing more. And for those who are advocating that he should be released .... I say ____-it.

Update: It figures that this is making the news today .... on the 20th anniversary of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

The U.S. State Department is actively considering negotiations with the Egyptian government for the transfer of custody of Omar Abdel-Rahman, also known as “the Blind Sheikh,” for humanitarian and health reasons, a source close to the the Obama administration told TheBlaze.

The Department of Justice, however, told TheBlaze that Rahman is serving a life sentence and is not considered for possible “release.” Previous calls to the State Department were referred to the Department of Justice and so far, the State Department has neither confirmed nor denied the report.

Update: The Blind Sheikh May be Released to Egypt -- Gather News

My Comment
: Besides being a "9/11 truther", Egypt's President Morsi has been demanding the release of the Blind Sheik since coming to power .... and has made it clear that he would do everything in his power to set him free. Will the White House oblige Egypt's new president .... I certainly hope not, and that all of this speculation is just "right-wing" gossip. But .... after the election .... who knows what will then happen.

Egypt's New President Wants The U.S. To Release The Blind Sheik From Prison

Morsi Wants To Free Sheik Who Plotted U.S. Terror -- New York Times

CAIRO — President-elect Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood pre-empted the military’s choreographed swearing-in ceremony by taking his oath of office a day early in a televised speech to hundreds of thousands of supporters in Tahrir Square on Friday. But his rousing tribute to Egyptian sovereignty may be overshadowed by a promise likely to complicate relations with the United States: to work for the release of the Egyptian-born Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, jailed for plotting to bomb a series of New York City landmarks.

The comments appeared to come almost offhandedly in the context of a vow to free Egyptian civilians imprisoned here after military trials during the transition after the ouster of Hosni Mubarak.

My Comment: We should not be surprised by these remarks .... there were rumors a few months ago that the US administration was itself prepared to release the "Blind Sheik" in return for the release of some US human rights observers.
