Terrorism Suspect Secretly Held For Two Months Indicted In U.S. Federal Courts

Terrorism Suspect Secretly Held For Two Months -- L.A. Times

Ahmed Abdulkadir Warsame, a Somali, is the first detainee known to have been secretly held by the Obama administration outside the criminal justice system.

A Somali militant linked to Al Qaeda was held and interrogated for two months on a U.S. Navy ship — the first publicly known example of the Obama administration secretly detaining a new terrorism suspect outside the criminal justice system.

Senior administration officials revealed the case Tuesday after an indictment against the man, Ahmed Abdulkadir Warsame, was unsealed in federal court in New York. The indictment, which does not mention Warsame's military detention, charges that he worked to broker a weapons deal between Al Qaeda's affiliate in Yemen and the Somali militant group Shabab. It alleges that he fought on Shabab's behalf in Somalia in 2009, then went to Yemen in 2010 for explosives training and took part in terrorist activities there.

My Comment: The right place to hold and interrogate such a suspect was in Guantanamo Bay .... but to do so would have made a mockery on the administrations goal of closing Guantanamo .... hence we now have a suspect locked up on a ship for two months while they interrogated him. And now he is indicted in federal court (not military) .... sighhh .... you got to be kidding me.

No wonder most terrorism suspects under President Obama's watch have been assassinated .... who wants to deal with this confusing legal process .... a process that was created purely out of politics and ideology.

U.S. Still Unprepared For A WMD Attack

Federal Agencies Still Unprepared For Weapons Of Mass Destruction, 9 Years After 9/11: Justice Dept -- New York Daily News

WASHINGTON - Except for the FBI, no federal law enforcement agency is ready to respond to an attack on the U.S. with weapons of mass destruction, Justice Department officials said Wednesday.

Nearly nine years after 9/11, the FBI has taken "appropriate steps" to prepare. The other agencies under the Justice umbrella were untrained and "as a whole did not have adequate policies or plans for responding to a WMD attack," said Glenn Fine, the Justice Department's inspector general.

It Appears That The U.S. Justice Department Is Asleep At The Wheel (Again)

Report: DOJ Not “Fully Prepared” For WMDs -- FOX News

The U.S. Justice Department is not "fully prepared" to respond to an attack with a weapon of mass destruction, according to a report released Tuesday by the department's inspector general.

"One of the greatest concerns is that a WMD may fall into the hands of terrorists or that terrorists will develop their own WMD," the inspector general's office said in a statement accompanying the report. "However, the Department of Justice has not implemented adequate WMD response plans."

My Comment: The priority right now is to go after BP and the subcontractors for the oil spill in the Gulf .... issues like WMDs .... not a priority until it becomes a priority. In short .... government is acting like government.

Al Qaeda's Lawyers Are Now In The US Justice Department

Chosen by Barack Obama to lead the Justice Department, Eric Holder tells reporters in Chicago, "We can and we must ensure that the American people remain secure." By Scott Olson, Getty Images

The 'Al-Qaeda Seven' And Selective McCarthyism -- Marc Thiessen, Washington Post

Would most Americans want to know if the Justice Department had hired a bunch of mob lawyers and put them in charge of mob cases? Or a group of drug cartel lawyers and put them in charge of drug cases? Would they want their elected representatives to find out who these lawyers were, which mob bosses and drug lords they had worked for, and what roles they were now playing at the Justice Department? Of course they would -- and rightly so.
