Iran Begins 'Massive' Deployment Of Long-Range Missile Launchers -- RT

As the Islamic Republic of Iran prepares for presidential elections next month it is fielding a "massive" number of new long-range missile launchers, Iranian media reported on Sunday.

Defense Minister Gen. Ahmad Vahidi was quoted as saying the new weapon systems give Iranian forces the ability to "crush the enemy" with the simultaneous launching of long-range surface-to-surface missiles, according to Fars, the semi-official Iranian news agency.

The report did not specify the type of missile that would be fired, or provide details on the number of launchers allegedly deployed.

Iran’s military does possess surface-to-surface missiles that are capable of traveling over 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles), able to reach of targets inside Israel and US bases in the region.

Iran Test Fires Herz-9 Short-Range Surface To Air Defense System

Iranian Herze-9 Short-Range Surface To Air Defense System seems to be a close derivative of the Chinese HQ-7/FM-90 SHROAD which is based on the French Crotale air defence missile system.

The Iranian Herze-9  low-altitude air defence missile system is based on the Shahab Thaqeb air defense system which had a range of 12 km and carried 14 kg fragmentation warhead.

Iranian Herz-9 Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD)

Iran has produced mobile Herz-9 short range surface-to-air missile system which is designed to destroy fighter jets, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flying at low altitudes.

Herz-9 short range surface-to-air missile system seems to be the improved version of the Shahab Thaqeb air defence missile which itself was the copy of Crotale/FM-80 short range air defence (SHORAD).

Iran's Revolutionary Guards have brought down a foreign surveillance drone during a military exercise, the official Islamic Republic News Agency said on Saturday.

Iran Marks Revolution Anniversary

Iran Marks Revolution Anniversary With Soaring, Defiant Rhetoric (+Video) -- Christian Science Monitor

On the 34th anniversary today of the Iranian revolution, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rejected Western pressure to negotiate over Iran's nuclear program 'at the point of a gun.'

Iran marked the 34th anniversary of its Islamic revolution today with mass rallies, nuclear defiance, and anti-Western proclamations that it is defeating all "treacherous enemies."

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rejected Western pressure to negotiate over Iran's nuclear program "at the point of a gun." His words echoed a rejection of bilateral US-Iran talks made last week by Iran's supreme religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

"You should remove this gun pointed at the Iranian nation, [then] I myself will negotiate with you," Mr. Ahmadinejad told flag-waving crowds at Azadi (Freedom) Square in Tehran, amid occasional chants of "Death to America! Death to Israel!"

Iranian Qaher F-313 Stealth Fighter Jet Prototype/Mock up

Iranian Qaher F-313 Stealth Fighter Jet Prototype/Mock up which was unveiled on 2 February. The F-313 Qaher seems to be very small aircraft with airintake and like that of first generation American F-117 stealth attack jet.

Engine intakes of the F-313 Qaher seems to be too small to support a powerfull engine required to meet the standards of the 5th generation fighter jets.

Iranian defence minister Brig Gen Ahmad Vahidi has claimed that Iranian Qaher F-313 Stealth fighter jet has a very small radar cross section and is capable of operating and flying in low-altitude.

Iranian TV has also aired video footage of Qaher F-313 duing flight.
