Nuclear Submarine USS Montpelier Collides With San Jacinto Cruiser
The USS Montpelier (SSN-765), Los Angeles-class nuclear attack submarine and the USS San Jacinto (CG-56), Ticonderoga-class Aegis cruiser of the United States Navy (USN) have collided about 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight time during a training exercise.
This report about the incident involving a nuclear submarine and a Aegis cruiser has been confirmed by the United States Fleet Forces Command and Pentagon.
Press release by the United States Fleet Forces Command said, “overall damage to both ships is being evaluated,” and that the USS Montpelier’s propulsion plant was “unaffected by the collision.”

New Chinese Type 052D Guided Missile Destroyer has been unveiled by the images issued by the HSH . The new destroyer appears to be using an improved Active Electronically Scanned Array(AESA) previously tested on a Chinese Test Ship 891.

Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2012 Begins
Ships and submarines participating in Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise 2012 sail in formation in the waters around the Hawaiian islands. Twenty-two nations, more than 40 ships and submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise from June 29 to Aug. 3.

United States, Japan and South Korea Hold Joint Naval Exercise
U.S. Navy's CVN-73 George Washington aircraft carrier and DDG 85 Mike Campbell missile destroyer participated in a joint naval exercise with the Japanese Shdirane-class guided missile destroyer DDH144 pommel horse and South Korean DDH-976 Chungmugong missile destroyer for the first time in the East China Sea.
