More Legal Problems For The White House's Attorney General

House Republicans Express "Great Concern" About Possible Holder Perjury -- CBS

Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder on Wednesday expressing "great concern" about the possibility that Holder lied under oath during his testimony earlier this month on the Justice Department's seizing of journalists' records, CBS News has learned.

On May 15, Holder told the committee he wasn't involved in "the potential prosecution" of a member of the press under the Espionage Act for disclosing classified information. "This is not something I've ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy," he said.

My Comment: I try my best to stay away from Washington politics .... I am not an American and I do not live in the U.S. .... but I do follow U.S. political news because I know that when Washington is diverted by scandal, it is a given that the world's bad actors will always take liberty with this lack of focus.

As to this scandal .... my take is very simple ... Attorney General Holder is in trouble. You cannot claim to Congress that you were not involved in "the potential prosecution" of a member of the press under the Espionage Act for disclosing classified information .... and then contradict yourself by personally signing the papers that permitted this investigation. On top of all of this .... I have trouble understanding how he could label the intelligence leaks that prompted this unprecedented attack on the press as one of the worst leaks ever .... but then not notify the President .... who only learned about it from the press. The Attorney General must now come clean .... because he is now putting himself and the White House in a lose-lose position.

Attorney General Responds To The 'Fast And Furious' Scandal

Holder Blasts Republicans In 'Fast And Furious' Response -- The Hill

Attorney General Eric Holder replied Friday to mounting accusations against him in a scathing letter to the congressional leaders who are investigating his involvement in the botched gun-tracking operation known as Fast and Furious.

Holder wrote in a letter to the chairmen and ranking members of three Congressional committees that he has been "truthful and accurate" about the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms operation and that the rhetoric coming from Republican legislators has been "irresponsible and inflammatory."

My Comment: He can complain and blast all that he wants against Congress for doing what it is suppose to do .... providing oversight. But the drip-drip of information that is coming out of the Attorney General's department is starting to reveal one of two things .... (1) he knew about the program but choose to not focus on it seriously until it was too late, or (2) he has no control over his department thereby revealing his administrative incompetence.
