Israel's Military Censorship Died When Barak Opened His Mouth About Syria -- Haaretz
If Ehud Barak's blatant violation of Israel’s vow of silence - committed when he essentially confirmed Israel's responsibility for the strike in Syria last week- brings no response, then there remains no justification for the existence of the military censor.
The most miserable woman in Israel wears the uniform of the Israel Air Force and the epaulets of a brigadier-general. She works for a tough boss – the defense minister, to whom her commanders must answer.
Sima Vaknin-Gil began in the aerial intelligence squadron and excelled in her studies at the National Defense College. In these institutions you primarily study the enemy and acquire only a superficial understanding of the Israeli side, with its internal intrigues and personal caprices. As chief military censor, whose rank is usually colonel in the Intelligence Corps, Vaknin-Gil was awarded the rank of brigadier-general two years ago. She has shelved her ambitions to serve in another military post and will retire in the middle of this decade.
