The Duffel Blog's Fake Military News Hits The Spot -- Duffel Blog

A former Marine infantryman who started The Duffel Blog is trying to do for military news what The Onion does for regular news -- make it so outrageously real that it's hard to tell what's true and what's not.

Former sergeant Paul Szoldra of Lakeland, Fla., who started the blog, tells the Military Times that an official at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington got at least one phone call from a servicemember miffed about a purported ban on his favorite Tapout mixed martial arts gear, not realizing it was all meant in jest.
